Eddie Stobart already operates an extensive fleet of Schmitz Cargobull trailers and this latest order follows the acquisition in 2008 of 150 dual - and 100 single-temperature vehicles from the Schmitz Cargobull range.
The new vehicles will be used to deliver foodstuffs for Eddie Stobart's grocery retail clients on routes throughout the UK and Europe.
Liveried the iconic colours and branding of Stobart Group, the new trailers have been built at Schmitz Cargobull's UK manufacturing plant at Harelaw, County Durham. Schmitz Cargobull has invested significantly in the Harelaw facility during 2009 and the site now features what is believed to be the most advanced multi product trailer production line in the world.
The box units for the new Stobart Group trailers are made from Schmitz Cargobull's patented Ferroplast insulated panels. A pure hardened foam, Ferroplast has the lowest thermal conduction of all known insulating materials. The Ferroplast walls of a Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated box are bonded together, to offer the highest standards of hygiene and to reduce maintenance over the whole of the working life of the semi-trailer. In fact, such is the company's faith in Ferroplast, that the boxes are offered with a full five-year structural warranty.
Stuart Smith, Eddie Stobart Ltd's Fleet Engineer, commented: "Schmitz Cargobull have an enthusiastic, dedicated team, which shows in the products that they manufacturer, it is a pleasure working with them."
