Currently, 220 are in operation across TNT Express' extensive national network of 52 depots, with a further 80 scheduled for delivery in November. They first went into build towards the end of July for TNT Express' latest vehicle replacement programme, which takes place on a 7 year cycle. The vehicles are replaced on a one-to-one basis as they come to the end of their operating life.
The rigid box vans for the leading parcel carrier include Cartwright's latest Cheetah aerodynamic design and will be utilised for the TNT Express PuD (pick-up and delivery) operation.
The new order includes a number of new features as part of the new design, including the rear roof of the body which has been altered to be more aerodynamic. The roof pod has also been redesigned to be more in line with the roof.
Cartwright has used more plastics in the manufacturing process for this order and these lighter weight materials have reduced the body weight by 250kg benefiting fuel savings and improving fuel consumption.
Alistair Cochrane, Managing Director, TNT Express UK & Ireland, pictured, commented: "We continue to have an excellent ongoing relationship with Cartwright as they are able to respond to meeting our delivery time requirements."
Steven Cartwright, Joint Managing Director, Cartwright said: "This has been a new build constructed to a new aerodynamic design with some important key features including lighter materials that have reduced the weight of the box vans considerably."
