Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham, 13-15 September, RWM 2016, organised by i2i Events Group in partnership with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management has hundreds of free to attend speaker sessions designed to inform and inspire.

The Circular Economy Connect (CEC) Zone and Theatre, backed by industry partners Suez and Viridor and sponsored by Ricardo-AEA, explores how the principles of a circular economy can be applied at an organisational or process level. This year’s programme, supported by media partner, Guardian Sustainable Business and chaired by environmental journalist, Maxine Perella, features current examples of circular practice.
Joan Marc Simon, Director, Zero Waste Europe will talk about Brexit transition and how Europe and the UK can continue to work effectively towards a zero waste future. Keynote addresses include Ichin Cheng, Director and Co-Founder of the Sustainable Innovation Lab talking about sustainability and Horizon 2020 in his role as an advisor to this largest EU Research and Innovation programme. International author and campaigner, Tristram Stuart will give a speaker session addressing the Food Waste Challenge.
Following the publication of the RWM Ambassadors Waste Data in the UK report earlier this year, carried out and part sponsored by Ricardo Energy & Environment, panellists will be discussing how extracting value from your waste data can unlock resource opportunities. Experts debating this include a UK Government Statistician on waste management, wider natural resource use and agriculture from DEFRA.
In The Energy from Waste theatre, industry pioneers will provide a holistic view on the role energy from waste has in achieving environmental objectives set by policy makers. Themes covered include the future of refuse-derived fuel; retrofitting of your energy from waste plant to maximise efficiency; anaerobic digestion and food waste. A senior representative from Transport for London will be discussing working with bio-fuels, whilst an investors panel will discuss financing routes available for energy from waste plants.
With the growing need for local authorities to implement a more creative waste strategy on tighter budgets, contributors from leading councils, commercial organisations, advisers and more, will share best practice in the Local Authority theatre on collaboration, how to create revenue streams and ways to increase recycling. Topical issues that will be debated include resident engagement, collection schemes, waste regulations, litter strategy and food waste reduction.
