Cartwright already has Conformity of Production and Whole Vehicle Type Approval for its trailer product range and is committed to its objective of working towards conformity across its entire product portfolio.
This policy further ensures safety standards for its customers which is underpinned by the organisation's dedication to compliance.
The company currently has a wide selection of accreditations and certificates and is involved in several industry association memberships that provide customers with the comfort that the company is meeting the standards required by these independent organisations in its manufacturing processes.
Cartwright's Type Approval Engineer, Tony Johnson, has extensive experience of the industry and is driving the organisation's compliance initiative.
He says Whole Vehicle Type Approval and self-certification is particularly important for large companies such as Cartwright as it helps to streamline and make the manufacturing process more efficient.
"The Vehicle Certification Agency came in during the Autumn of last year and audited our systems and we gained Conformity of Production. We can now self-certify our trailers on the back of receiving Conformity of Production accreditation," he said.
"It now places all manufacturers across Europe on a level playing field and most important for the customer it enhances the safety of the vehicles," he said.
Tony Johnson explained that trailers came under the scrutiny of Whole Vehicle Type Approval in October after previously falling under Construction and Use regulations.
"It is an ongoing process. Whole vehicles are split into categories and so far we have gained Whole Life Type Approval for longer semi-trailers, tandem axles, single axles, drawbars and ambulances. Rigids are the next in line….," he said.
Cartwright has made a substantial investment in the Whole Vehicle Type Approval programme to date and this investment will continue as new products are specified for its rapidly expanding range.
The company is repeatedly reviewing design information from the Cartwright engineering department and certifying compliance through additional scrutiny.
Production controls are routinely carried out throughout the manufacturing process in accordance with Conformity of Production and design data. In witnessing tests on a representative sample, the company guarantees all performance claims.
Tony Johnson continued: "We believe we are inspiring confidence from our customers by demonstrating we are working to the standards associated with the Cartwright brand.
"Furthermore a direct benefit of participating in Type Approval is that repeated future products take less time to pass through the design, manufacture and testing processes which is obviously more efficient," he added.
Cartwright is a member of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Road Haulage Association (RHA) A)(SC to confirm), Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association (VBRA) and the Freight Transport Association (FTA).
Certificates and Accreditations include ISO9001 from ISOQAR and the Conformity of Production from the Vehicle Certification Agency.
