Yale delivers 500th truck to Homebase flagship store

Yale UK has supplied its 500th truck to Homebase. The ERP20ATF, a highly manoeuvrable three-wheel electric lift truck model, was part of the latest consignment of trucks delivered to Homebase's new flagship store in Kingston upon Thames.

Since 1998, Yale UK has supplied Homebase with a wide range of materials handling equipment, including ERP20ATF 3 wheel electric lift trucks, MR16 reach trucks, MP20L pallet trucks and HP hand pallet trucks, as well as the latest GLP20SVX Veracitor, two tonne internal combustion engine trucks.

Commenting on the latest deal with Yale UK, Homebase's Store Equipment Manager, Clive Hillman said: "We have to review critically our warehouse handling needs on a regular basis. Moving goods efficiently and safely around our stores are key to the smooth running of our business.

We have continued to select Yale UK for a number of reasons. Yale is a national company with a dedicated team of skilled service engineers. Yale also offers a modern product range with exceptional operator ergonomics. Their products are competitively priced and dependable and Yale offers a complete maintenance package with excellent response times.

The fact that Yale offers us this comprehensive service with a central customer support centre, that consistently performs, and that they have never let us down, are convincing factors," explained Mr Hillman.

Homebase, which has nearly 300 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, has a long association with Yale. The roots stretch back to 1986, at which time both companies traded under different names. Homebase was then known as Texas Homecare and the company employed Eddison Lift Truck Services - then the Yale dealership – to service trucks at a number of Texas sites.

Vanda Morris, Yale UK Commercial Director, said: "As the sole supplier of materials handling trucks to Homebase, we have tailored our service to suit their needs.

"We pride ourselves in the close working relationship we have established which helps us understand their changing business requirements and are flexible and creative in our approach. Examples include: the provision of a dedicated call centre that can prioritise and resolve Homebase issues, a short-term hire fleet, a fleet management programme and a special focus on a strong health and safety issues," explained Vanda Morris.
