A West Midlands logistics firm has driven away with a major industry accolade — and a brand-new trailer — after being recognised for its impact on a national freight network.

West Bromwich-based Sheldon Clayton Logistics was named Shareholder Member of the Year at the Pallet-Track Shareholder Gala, held at The Belfry Hotel in Sutton Coldfield.

The award was presented by Pallet-Track Group CEO Stuart Godman alongside Peter Eason, Managing Director of ELB Partners and last year’s winner.

As part of the win, Sheldon Clayton Logistics was also handed a high-specification, dual-branded trailer featuring both the company’s branding and Pallet-Track’s livery.

The annual awards celebrate contributions made by members of the Pallet-Track network, which allows independent logistics firms to work together to move palletised freight efficiently across the UK.

Founded in 1976, Sheldon Clayton Logistics has been a Shareholder Member of Pallet-Track since 2010.

The company now employs around 200 people across sites in the West Midlands and Scotland.

Managing Director Scott Campbell said the recognition reflected the efforts of the whole business.

“It was great to have our hard work recognised by not only Pallet-Track, but also our fellow network Shareholder Members,” he said.

He added that the award carried special significance following the death of the firm’s founder last year.

“This award is a fitting tribute to the legacy of our founder, David Sheldon, who built the business from scratch but sadly passed away last year, aged 80,” he said.

“He would have been proud of this win, as are we, which celebrates the hard work of our entire team.”

Mr Campbell said the company was already looking ahead.

“We’re looking forward to building on this for many years ahead and getting our new trailer on the road!” he added.

Pallet-Track CEO Stuart Godman said the award reflected the high regard in which Sheldon Clayton Logistics is held by fellow members.

“Huge congratulations to the Sheldon Clayton Logistics team on being voted Shareholder Member of the Year,” he said.

“As a long-time partner of our network, Sheldon Clayton is held in the highest regard by its fellow members, and this award rightly recognises the team’s continued contribution.”

Mr Godman said the business exemplified the values of the network.

“Sheldon Clayton embodies the values of Pallet-Track, going above and beyond for the best of the network,” he said.

He added that the new trailer was a mark of that achievement.

“As part of winning this incredible award, we are delighted to gift this wonderful company a brand new, high specification dual-liveried trailer featuring both of our logos.”

ELB Partners Managing Director Peter Eason, whose company sponsored the award, said he understood the significance of the recognition.

“Last year we were lucky enough to receive this award, so we know what it means to receive the support and respect of our peers,” he said.

“We want to offer Scott and the team our congratulations for their hard work.”

The Pallet-Track network is made up of more than 90 independent logistics companies working collectively to collect and deliver palletised freight throughout the UK.
