Toyota Material Handling Europe has once again been awarded the prestigious Platinum medal in the latest EcoVadis sustainability assessment, placing it among the top 1% of companies globally assessed by the organisation.

The company scored 83 points in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, securing the highest level of recognition for the sixth year running—a remarkable achievement.

Since first being assessed in 2012, Toyota Material Handling Europe has steadily improved its score by 31 points, progressing from a Bronze rating in 2012 to Gold in 2013 and finally reaching Platinum status in 2019.

EcoVadis evaluates around 100,000 companies worldwide across 21 sustainability criteria in four key areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

Toyota Material Handling Europe’s consistent top-tier ranking highlights its ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices.

By establishing social and governance (ESG) targets early on and aligning with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) framework, the company has effectively identified its most significant impacts, risks, and opportunities.

Alongside the Platinum medal, Toyota Material Handling Europe was also recognised as a Carbon Leader—a new EcoVadis category assessing companies’ carbon performance.

“We are honoured by the achievement overall and with our score for Environmental Management in particular,” said Per Fyrenius, Senior Vice President Corporate Development at Toyota Material Handling Europe.

“The fact that EcoVadis categorises us in the top 10% of companies receiving a ‘Leader’ rating for carbon management indicates that we are on the right path with our Net Zero programme.”

Fyrenius added: “We are committed to working closely with our suppliers and customers on the journey to net zero, guided by our science-based targets approved by the SBTi.

"By building resilient supply chains, developing Net Zero solutions for customers, and launching our Logiconomi connections with startups offering innovative climate solutions, we strive to go beyond compliance.”

Toyota Material Handling Europe continues to solidify its position within the global sustainability elite as assessed by EcoVadis, a leading provider of business sustainability ratings.

These ratings offer an evidence-based analysis of performance and an actionable roadmap for ongoing improvement.

“EcoVadis assessments are integral to our sustainability strategy,” Fyrenius concluded. “

Through these assessments, we gain valuable insights into our strengths and areas for improvement, allowing us to continuously enhance our practices.”
