T.O.M. looks to 1link Hire Network to help power expansion into England

Scotland's largest commercial vehicle rental specialist, T.O.M. Vehicle Rental, is looking to epyx's 1link Hire Network e-commerce platform to help power its new programme of expansion into England.

As part of ambitious growth plans, the Airdrie-based company has opened sites at Castleford and London in recent months in addition to established branches in Manchester and Nottingham as well as five in Scotland.

The company has already increased its fleet size from 1,500 vehicles in 2010 to more than 10,500 today as well as constructing a nationwide repair and service network of 400 partners.

David Love, director of vehicle rental at T.O.M, explained that 1link Hire Network daily rental e-commerce platform would be used by T.O.M. as a means to offer its services online directly to potential customers close to its new branches.

He said: "1link Hire Network will help us to open our services to larger leasing companies and other fleets through our new sites who may not currently be aware of T.O.M, the depth of our vehicle range or the strength of our service levels.

"As with any newcomer, we expect a natural level of interest from potential customers about who we are, where we've come from and how we do business but we very much welcome this.

"We're a family business and have been fine-tuning our rental proposition for nearly 25 years now, so we are confident customers will like the service we can offer"

David added that T.O.M. served the requirements of a diverse range of customers, from small start-up businesses to major blue chip corporations as well as local authorities and health services.

Its commercial fleet stretches from vans to 44-ton tractor units and trailers plus almost everything in between including refrigerated vehicles, boxes, curtains, dropsides, tippers, minibuses, brick grabs and tipper grabs. The company also hires cars and 4x4s.

He said: "Our success has been very much based on satisfying the needs of our customers, often by innovating and doing things a little differently. Our commitment is to go the extra mile to ensure that we look after them and continue to enjoy their business."

T.O.M has also recently been named in the Sunday Times Top Track 250, The London Stock Exchange Group's "1000 Companies to Inspire Britain" and The Real Business Hot 100.
