Affordable, flexible Supply Chain Synergy now available from Skillweb
Skillweb, provider of innovative mobile computer solutions for logistics and supply chain operations has purchased Warehouse Management and ERP solutions vendor DISTRiX. This acquisition brings together Skillweb's mobile skills and DISTRiX's warehouse and back office skills to deliver a true end to end solution for Supply Chain Synergy. DISTRiX's applications which include, warehouse management, inventory management, field service automation, sales order processing, bench repair & maintenance, customer relationship management, hire, and assembly line management will be integrated with Skillweb's track and trace, proof of delivery and integrated driver navigation systems by Christmas 2006.
DISTRiX's proven applications are ideal for businesses where there are typically very high volumes of products (SKUs), high throughput and multiple channels to market. DISTRiX can manage telesales, web sales, retail sales and electronic orders. DISTRiX's inventory module manages details of new models, upgrades, stock clearance campaigns and seasonal adjustments. The warehouse module optimises warehouse and distribution efficiency. The system is set up based on business rules so that it can proactively respond to both predictive and unusual trends, allowing replenishment orders to be placed automatically. The results, as seen within the existing customer base, which includes Pentax, Disruptive & Gear4, and M&P Motorcycles Direct amongst others, typically allows their supply and distribution activities to match and keep pace with increasing sales.
Since the acquisition Skillweb has set up a new development environment for the DISTRiX employees, plus new workshops, computer rooms, and a demonstration area in purpose built premises at its headquarters in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The workshop provides a first-line repair service for clients' mobile devices which Skillweb supplies within its managed services.
Chris Wright, Joint Managing Director of Skillweb and DISTRiX commented, "Less than 10% of deliveries are monitored by electronic Proof of Delivery systems, so there is still a largely untapped market out there. Everyone in the supply chain will appreciate the rich functionality of Skillweb's and DISTRiX's combined solutions. It is the first time that the market has been able to choose an end to end supply chain solution from a single source. "
Chris continues, "Skillweb's strength lies in its mobile computing expertise and its systems that go from the warehouse floor to the customers' door. DISTRiX's benefits start long before that with order placement, stock and product management, and then continue at the end of the process with returns and maintenance and customer relationship management. The synergy between the two businesses is very strong and will certainly result in a combined, much stronger business that delivers true supply chain synergy to our customers."
