Palletised freight network Palletforce has developed a new 'live tracking' mobile iPhone app.
The app, which is called Palletforce Pallet Tracking, is now available as a free download from the iTunes App store.
Dean Hughes, Palletforce's IT Director, said: "The app makes it possible to see exactly where a consignment is at any stage of its journey ...so it offers another quick and easy way for customers to track their deliveries from anywhere in the world."
Palletforce developed the app in partnership with Northamptonshire-based Technical Direct.
Using the latest smartphone technology the app is designed to be simple to use and provide crucial information on where each consignment is - whether from collection, to being delivered to the Palletforce Hub, and right through to its final destination and successful delivery.
The app uses information from Palletforce's cutting edge Alliance IT system to pinpoint where each consignment is.
Access to this information is now only a tap away for customers who can use the app just by typing in their delivery details.
The app also remembers a customer's last 10 searches so users can easily monitor the progress of multiple consignments.
Patrick Pakes, Operations Director at Technical Direct, said: "We have worked closely with Palletforce for a number of years and helped the network develop its leading IT platform called Alliance. The iPhone app is a perfect companion to Alliance, it provides instant access to live information to help Palletforce members and their customers."
