Pallet Queen is the secret millionaire

Hilary Devey, founder, owner and CEO of the UK's number one palletised freight collection and delivery network, Pall-Ex, is to star in a forthcoming episode of the Channel 4 TV show, The Secret Millionaire.

The show, which is now in its third series, sees millionaires leaving behind their luxury lives, taking on secret identities and living undercover in deprived areas for ten days alongside locals, to find individuals and projects that they think deserve a cut of their fortune.

During the show, which will be shown on Channel 4 at 9:00pm on 9 September, Hilary returns to her North West roots to go undercover as a barmaid in Rochdale. Once there, she discovers a number of worthwhile projects including a local community centre that's hit a funding crisis and an innovative music project keeping kids off the street.

The women behind some of these projects strike a chord with Hilary, as they share many of the same qualities that helped to make her successful - as both a figurehead female entrepreneur and an innovator in the male-dominated logistics industry.

Hilary, who was originally from Bolton, risked all for her business vision, when 12 years ago she gave up her job, and sold her house and car to raise £112,000 to realise Pall-Ex.

Formed in 1996, to deliver small consignments of palletised freight both cost-effectively and quickly, throughout the UK, based on the 'hub and spoke' model, Hilary's business Pall-Ex now occupies the No.1 position in the pallet network sector. Based in Leicestershire and with a second Northern Hub in Carlisle, the company boasts some 100 depot locations nationwide, and regularly handles 10,000 consignments daily.

To find out which deserving projects get a share of Hilary's fortune, watch The Secret Millionaire on Channel 4 at 9:00pm on 9 September.
