Rugged mobile computing specialist Mobexx is offering a uniquely configurable, best-in-class, 10-inch Tablet PC. The new ARMOR X10gx from DRS Tactical Systems, Inc., a business unit of DRS Technologies, Inc. is a fully-rugged tablet that is highly configurable to customer requirements while also having a special FlexSpace expansion area that allows customer specific functionality to be integrated. It is manufactured and certified to MIL-STD-810F/G for extremes in temperature, vibration, shock, and drops to the ground.
The tablet PC is ATEX-certified for use in explosive atmospheres, and carries an IP 67 sealing rating, which means it is fully sealed against dust and can withstand water immersion to a depth of 1m for 30 minutes. The Windows 7 Tablet PC is suitable for mobile workers needing a lightweight but extremely tough portable computer offering a large sunlight-readable dual mode (touch and active digitizer) screen display.
"The ARMOR X10gx is recognised as the 'Rolls-Royce' of 10-inch tablet PCs. It is a tenth-generation device that is top of its class. It has one of the best screens on the market, which allows use in both bright and shady conditions. It provides all the computing power needed for almost any type of mobile application and is ideally suited for the most rugged, demanding environments. We are very pleased to be able to offer this product, particularly as it can be readily configured for customer computing needs, while custom applications can be satisfied through its unique expansion bay," says Mark Dale-Lace, Director, Mobexx.
The casing for the ARMOR X10gx is made of magnesium alloy, the material of choice for rugged mobile computers. This tough shell features special input/output ports that seal the openings without the need for covers or flaps. The rugged tablet PC has an Intel Core2 Duo processor giving it desktop performance in a mobile package. To ensure that nothing stops the workflow, it also has dual hot-swappable batteries. Connectivity is fully covered by integrated Gobi WWAN mobile broadband radio, as well as 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth wireless, and integrated GPS.
In keeping with its rugged design and absence of breakable, moving parts, mass data storage is provided by a 32GB solid-state hard drive with an option for a 80GB high performance Intel solid state hard drive that is user-replaceable. A built-in SD/SDHC reader allows further expansion and quick data transfer. Like a desktop or laptop computer, the ARMOR X10gx tablet PC can also be secured using a password or with the biometric fingerprint reader and it also offers support for encrypted SSDs and smart cards.
