Linney Group leads the way with TOYOTA System

The forklift truck sector is a fast-moving and highly competitive marketplace. When the time came for communications business the Linney Group to renew its fleet contract, flexibility, affordability and service topped its list of criteria. After a detailed review of suppliers, it opted for Impact Toyota, the UK's fastest growing distributor of Toyota forklift trucks and specialist material handling equipment.

The deal, comprised a fleet of 17 vehicles, a mix of new Toyota 7FGF15 Counterbalance, 7PML20 Ride on Powered Pallet Trucks and 6FBRE Electric Reach Truck, Dual Purpose Articulated Counterbalance equipment from the TOYOTA System II range complete with a bespoke service agreement that met the group's particular requirements.

Based in Mansfield, the WJ Linney Group is an award-winning provider of data management, print fulfillment and outsourced processed solutions. Due to the nature of the business, its materials handling needs vary from standard forklift trucks to highly specialised equipment. Ian Caldwell, Operations Director of Linney Direct, explained, "Our requirements were quite specific – we needed a supplier which had access to a full spectrum of materials handling expertise, from the range of machines and technical knowledge to health and safety support and reliable service.

"We were also looking to consolidate to a single source agreement to maximise purchasing power and streamline the administration involved. Impact Toyota was the only supplier capable of fulfilling that brief. No matter how many hurdles we presented to the Impact team, they came back with clear and concise proposals that matched our needs. It soon became clear that Impact shared our commitment to delivering the best service on time and to budget – that synergy goes a long way."

Eddie Bourne, Impact's Regional Sales Manager explained: "Ian's parameters were quite clear and from there we were able to develop a tailored proposal. This included scheduled quarterly meetings to review agreed performance indicators – a key aspect to ensuring total customer satisfaction.

"We recommended that Linney consider the TOYOTA System II range for some of its vehicles. As fully warranted, refurbished 'pre-owned' trucks, they offer renowned Toyota quality and the highest specification, without compromising reliability. While the initial capital cost of cheaper trucks may look low, it is the whole life cost and profile that really counts."

System II equipment is only available from the Impact-group's handling centres nationwide, including Hull, Doncaster, Nottingham, Corby, Ipswich and Immingham.
