Construction and agricultural equipment supplier Conagri has launched a new material handling division as it looks to expand into a growing sector of the industry.

The company says its new Hulk MHE (Material Handling Equipment) division will deliver professional and customer-focused solutions designed to help businesses operate more safely, efficiently and profitably.

The division is being led by two experienced figures from the material handling industry and has already secured partnerships with four established equipment manufacturers.

Under the new arrangement, Conagri’s Hulk division will act as the UK distributor for several major brands, including Hako, which produces cleaning machines used in commercial, industrial and municipal environments.

The portfolio also includes Hoppecke, Europe’s largest privately owned manufacturer of industrial batteries.

In addition, the division will supply Cesab forklifts, counterbalanced trucks, warehouse equipment and tow tractor systems, alongside Noblelift, the world’s largest manufacturer of hand pallet trucks, which also produces heavy trucks capable of handling loads of up to 50 tonnes.

Aiden Edwards has been appointed head of sales for the new division and will oversee the company’s material handling operations.

Edwards brings more than 25 years of experience in the forklift industry, having previously worked with Toyota, Briggs Equipment and Jofson’s.

He has also held senior sales leadership roles and completed a Master of Business Administration degree.

Speaking about the new venture, he said businesses are increasingly looking for ways to control costs while maintaining productivity.

“Many companies want to cut their costs by reducing overheads but still maintain the best quality of service and productivity through trusted long-term suppliers who provide stable and consistent service,” he said.

“Our brands represent the best quality, price, productivity, safety and innovations, with equipment to fit all budgets and applications.”

Edwards will work alongside Barry Gates, who joins the business as the division’s business development manager.

Gates brings 24 years of experience in material handling and has previously held senior leadership roles focused on sales strategy, client development and team growth.

In his new role, he will focus on developing tailored solutions across forklifts, conveyors, automation systems and warehouse equipment.

He will also work closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure customers receive reliable service and support.

Part of his role will involve identifying new business opportunities and building long-term relationships with key industrial clients as the division expands.

Conagri director Andrew Venton said the new operation would allow the company to focus on a sector that is continuing to grow despite wider economic pressures.

“Our new Hulk division will enable us to concentrate on the material handling sector which is bucking the trend and going from strength to strength, focusing as it does on providing contractor and companies with cost-effective logistical solutions,” he said.
