Linde Material Handling UK has strengthened its sustainability drive with the appointment of long-serving employee Gill Brennand as its new Sustainability Manager.
Based at the company’s Basingstoke headquarters, Brennand will take up the role in January 2026, supporting Linde MH’s ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental impact across the business.
Brennand has been with the intralogistics specialist for more than 26 years, having joined in export order processing before progressing to manage the Central Order Desk.
In her new position, she will lead the development and delivery of initiatives aimed at cutting carbon emissions, improving waste management, promoting sustainable sourcing and embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations.
Reflecting on her appointment, Brennand said: “I’ve been part of Linde Material Handling – and the logistics sector – for almost three decades, giving me a front-row seat as sustainability has risen to the top of the industry agenda.”
She added: “I’m proud to be part of a company that takes its responsibilities seriously, and I look forward to building on the hard work already done while leading the next phase of our sustainability journey.”
Her appointment follows Linde MH achieving a Platinum EcoVadis rating earlier this year, placing the company among the top one per cent of organisations assessed by the global sustainability ratings agency.
It also comes after the launch of a major UK-wide sustainability programme designed to further cut the company’s carbon footprint while supporting customers in meeting their own net-zero ambitions.
As part of the programme, solar panels have already been installed at Linde’s Bridgend site in Wales and at its Newton Aycliffe premises in the North East, with renewable energy solutions set to be rolled out across all UK-owned locations.
Other measures include transitioning service engineer vans and company cars to fully electric alternatives, expanding EV charging infrastructure for staff and visitors, and reducing energy use through LED lighting upgrades across warehouses, workshops and offices.
The plan also includes sourcing power from low-carbon energy providers, installing rainwater harvesting systems, and fitting automatic roller shutters in workshops to minimise heat loss.
Dr Arthur O’Sullivan, regional director at Linde MH, said the company recognised the scale of its responsibility. He said: “We are very aware of the environmental impact of the intralogistics sector, and as a leader in this space, we recognise our responsibility to drive meaningful change.”
He added: “Sustainability is a central priority for Linde, and while we have already made significant progress, there is still much more to do and we are thrilled to have Gill spearheading these efforts moving forward.”
