During the past three years, Intersnack has expanded rapidly in the UK through making key acquisitions and now has almost 50% market share in the nuts sector. In the UK, the business has 400 employees and is well known for its Penn State Pretzel and Pom-Bear snacks, as well as the Percy Dalton brands. It has production centres at Stanley in Co.Durham, Corby, Suffolk and Wolverhampton.
CHEP already worked with two snack companies, Union Snacks in Co. Durham and Imperial Snacks in Wolverhampton, before they were bought by Intersnack. CHEP has retained this business and also won an additional contract supplying the Corby site. A further 20,000 pallet movements will also result from Intersnack's decision to switch to CHEP from a major competitor to handle the Your Nuts range.
Intersnack is using CHEP's Managed Recovery service which is an enhancement to the pallet pooling exchange service, as it reduces total vehicle movements and therefore the resulting total carbon footprint of its operations. As part of the service, CHEP collects used pallets in full truck loads and returns them to Intersnack's suppliers to be used to deliver its products into Intersnack.
