Crown, one of the world’s leading material handling companies, has unveiled its new WJ 50 Series pedestrian electric pallet truck, designed to deliver powerful performance in confined environments.

Weighing just 159.5 kg (1.2-ton model) and 162.5 kg (1.5-ton model) including the battery, this lightweight machine can effortlessly manage loads up to 1,500 kg.

Thanks to its exceptionally compact design, the WJ 50 Series offers an industry-leading head length of only 370 mm and a tight turning radius of 1,319 mm, making it the perfect choice for operations where space is limited. Its ergonomic design paired with a coordinated 48V system boosts operator efficiency and comfort.

The pallet truck is especially suited for truck transport, kerbside deliveries, wholesale, and retail environments. Crown supports the product with a comprehensive ‘3-2-1 warranty package’ — three years on chassis and forks, two years on batteries, and one year on main components — a guarantee unrivalled in the market.

Daily operational challenges such as narrow doors, restricted aisles, uneven floors, and elevators demand a pallet truck that combines size, weight, and performance. “With the WJ 50 Series, we offer a powerful alternative to manually operated pallet trucks.

It combines robustness, manoeuvrability, and ergonomics and enables operators to work more efficiently and achieve more in less time.

This is also confirmed by the positive feedback from our customers, who have already subjected the truck to intensive practical tests.

They particularly praised the precise handling and comfortable driving experience as well as the robust design, which comes into its own in demanding applications,” said Christian Peter, Marketing Product Manager at Crown.

Developed and manufactured by Crown, the WJ 50 Series boasts exceptional durability, featuring steel covers instead of plastic to shield sensitive components and reduce repair needs and spare parts costs. Its enclosed design and protective skirt ensure safe operation while protecting the driver.

The shortest head length in the industry combined with a vertical tiller drive makes the pallet truck highly manoeuvrable in tight spaces.

Crown’s ergonomic control handle includes intuitively positioned forward/reverse and lift/lower controls, allowing precise handling even when operated vertically. The truck can be controlled with one hand, ensuring optimal load management in cramped conditions.

An extensive range of Work Assist accessories — including holders for scanners, tools, papers, and shelves for personal items — allows the WJ 50 Series to be customised into a mobile workstation, enhancing operator comfort and productivity.

Powered by a V-Force 48V lithium-ion battery, the WJ 50 Series delivers excellent energy efficiency, consuming 39% less energy than the market average, helping to reduce total cost of ownership.

It offers four battery options ranging from 9.8 Ah to 24.5 Ah to suit diverse operational needs, with flexible charging options via onboard chargers or V-Force external chargers.

A smart learning algorithm adapts the battery runtime indicator to different work patterns, providing operators with accurate real-time information on remaining battery life.

Each battery is secured with an automatic locking system and can be quickly removed or inserted with one hand, streamlining maintenance and operation.

The new WJ 50 Series from Crown represents a leap forward in pedestrian pallet truck design, combining compactness, durability, ergonomics, and energy efficiency to meet the demands of modern logistics and warehousing environments.
