Hyundai Material Handling and Matrix Design Group have announced a technology partnership aimed at reducing forklift collisions in busy warehouse environments.
The partnership, highlighted to mark National Forklift Safety Day, focuses on the integration of Matrix’s OmniPro Vision AI technology into Hyundai lift truck operations.
The companies said the system is designed to help tackle safety risks caused by blind spots, congested aisles and limited operator reaction times.
Known as HiVision powered by OmniPro, the technology uses edge-based detection to identify pedestrians, vehicles and objects around lift trucks.
The aim is to create safer, more connected and more efficient material handling fleets.
Mark Watson, CEO of Matrix Design Group, said: “The value of this technology extends well beyond collision avoidance.
“By integrating OmniPro Vision AI into the lift truck platform, we are helping customers create a foundation for safer operations, better visibility and more productive facilities.”
Matrix and Hyundai demonstrated the technology at MODEX 2026 in Atlanta using a Hyundai lift truck configuration.
The demonstration showed how the system can detect forward and rear obstacles, while escalating visual alerts from green to yellow to red as a hazard becomes more serious.
The companies said the system can also trigger speed reduction through CAN-bus integration when proximity becomes critical.
Lewis Byers, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Hyundai Material Handling, said the partnership would support a broader shift in lift truck technology.
He said: “As Hyundai looks ahead, working with Matrix as an official technology partner helps shift the approach from standalone point solutions to a more cohesive strategy.
“Collision avoidance is the starting point, but the roadmap extends well beyond into a more connected and intelligent machine ecosystem.”
Matrix and Hyundai said the partnership would support safer warehouse operations while helping facilities prepare for smarter fleet technologies and future automation.
Matrix Design Group develops AI-powered safety technologies for industrial environments, with a focus on reducing risk, improving visibility and supporting more efficient operations.
The company is headquartered in Newburgh, Indiana, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliance Resource Partners.
