Fleet management company CFC Solutions upgrade its Fleet Plus fleet software

A range of grey fleet management tools have been added by CFC Solutions in the latest upgrade to its Fleet Plus fleet software.

They allow fleet managers to monitor grey fleet vehicle insurance records, serve reminders for safety checks, and ensure that maintenance is being carried out.

Neville Briggs, managing director at CFC, said: "Fleet Plus has been able to effectively handle grey fleet issues for some time but we have received several requests to add to the functionality of the software in this area, hence the latest changes.

"Managers of fleets are increasingly aware of the need to proactively manage grey fleets, especially when it comes to duty of care related issues such as maintenance and insurance, and the new tools we have provided will help them with these tasks."

CFC's Fleet Plus is the industry standard fleet management software for medium-large fleets and is designed to sit at the heart of fleet management operations, handling almost every conceivable task. It imports data from potentially dozens of sources - such as fuel card providers and payroll systems. Once set up, it works on the principle of exception reporting against key performance indicators: the system alerts users only when action is needed. For example, an alert is generated if an MPG target for a vehicle has not been met or a grey driver has ignored a request for a safety check.

The product is in use by around half of the UK's top 100 fleets and customers include Alliance & Leicester, Anglian Windows, B Sky B, Balfour Beatty, Chubb Fire Ltd, Derbyshire Constabulary, ExxonMobile Chemical Limited and Fujitsu Telecomms.

Briggs continued: "We are finding that the topic of grey fleets is one that is increasingly being mentioned by fleets looking to buy software and several of the new deals we have signed this year have been partly thanks to Fleet Plus's capabilities in this area."
