Facom tools hailed as 'brilliant' by Honda

Facom tools have been hailed as 'brilliant' by Honda after its engineers and technicians used specially insulated socket sets on a range of its well-known hybrid cars.

After testing Facom's 1/4" and 3/8" drive insulated socket sets on hybrid and high voltage models including the recent Honda Jazz, the tools are now considered 'a must' by the multinational car and bike manufacturer which is using the products in Honda Institutes in London, Nottinghamshire and Glasgow.

As well as the UK training centres, Facom tools are being used by engineers in the Honda Academy in Frankfurt, Germany, and will be recommended for all Honda dealerships where Hybrid maintenance is required.

John Hensman, Honda's technical coordinator for the UK said: "Facom Tools have been brilliant.

"We've been using Facom since our first hybrid car - the Insight back in 1999.

"We used the 1/4" and 3/8" drive insulated socket sets more recently to test hybrid vehicles that require insulated tools due to their high voltage system.

"Many of our cars have a 158v battery so it is an essential requirement - stated in the Honda training manual - that insulated tools must be used to reduce risk of harm to the technicians themselves as well as damage to the vehicles and Facom's insulated socket sets have proved reliable and of a high standard.

"The insulation on both socket sets is excellent - even the smaller capacity set has the same quality of insulation - and the tools are an absolute must for technicians who work on high voltage-vehicles.

"For us and the work we do at Honda, Facom tools work perfectly, especially the more compact tools because a lot of the electronics on the car components can be very small - some only about 8mm in size.

"We've had great assistance from Facom, too. Initially our Facom representative loaned us the 1/4" and 3/8" drive insulated socket sets to test and decide which we preferred - the technicians liked both, so we went for both!"

Mike Lappage, South East Sales Manager for Facom, said: "Facom prides itself on its reliability, quality and high standards, so to receive such glowing feedback from an international brand like Honda is very welcome praise indeed."
