Helping others as well as herself is the motivation for a director of a leading logistics firm who is limbering up for a charity challenge on the streets of Manchester.
Rebecca Davies, 42, who heads up the Contract Packing Division at AKW Group, based in Trafford Park, is taking part in the Shine Manchester marathon to raise money for Cancer Research.
"I was determined to get fitter but I wanted to do it in a way that would also make a difference to other people as well," said Rebecca, from Cheadle.
Rebecca, who has 25 years' experience in Logistics working at TNT Express and AKW Group is now considered a leading expert in contract packing for consumer brands within the UK.
She decided to use some of her focus and determination to drive her success out of the office and began getting fitter in January.
"There is no better exercise for the heart than giving something back," said Rebecca.
"Ever since I signed up the support I've had from my friends and personal trainer has been fantastic and I just hope I can raise as much money as possible for a great cause."
Starting at Old Trafford the first stretch of the run will take Rebecca past her office at AKW's 26 Bond depot which manages the Contract Packing & Warehousing for the country's leading consumer brands.
The route then sets out towards Salford Quays and passing the Imperial War Museum before passing more of Manchester's most recognisable sites including Media City UK, The Lowry, Millennium Bridge, Castlefield Arena and Manchester Cathedral before winding back to the home of Manchester United.
When the run is finished Rebecca has no plans to hang up her running shoes just yet.
"I really want to do more for charity especially locally for good causes," said Rebecca.
