Concha y Toro UK, the UK subsidiary of the world’s second largest winery, has awarded Jigsaw the contract for secondary distribution of all its brands to customers throughout the UK. The wine company awarded the contract to Jigsaw because the managed transport specialist demonstrated the excellent service levels, detailed reporting and rapid implementation needed to support its business growth.
Concha y Toro UK is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Viña Concha y Toro, one of the world's largest and most successful wine companies. In terms of vineyard ownership, Concha y Toro is the second largest winery in the world. Operating in the UK since 2001, the company now imports more than six million cases of wine from its parent company’s wineries in Chile, Argentina and California. Brands include Casillero del Diablo, Cono Sur, Isla Negra, and Frontera.
Jigsaw will manage all distribution from Concha y Toro UK’s bottling facilities in Manchester and County Durham to customers throughout the UK. These include all major multiple retailers as well as smaller and independent wine shops, which creates a complex distribution profile. Jigsaw’s expertise and ability to configure operations on a national scale with capability across the entire drop size range within varying lead-times was one of the major factors behind the contract award. UK transportation solution design from Jigsaw is based on the need to meet clients’ objectives for lean and efficient transport week-in, week-out, but must also offer the scalability and adaptability to fulfil changing volumes and demands driven by promotions and seasonal peaks.
Lee Smith, Customer Account Director at Jigsaw, said: “We are delighted to be supplier of choice for such a prestigious company as Concha y Toro. Our ability to offer complete scaleability and flexibility, with excellent customer service was an important factor in the client’s decision. This expands our successful drinks portfolio and is a great opportunity for Jigsaw to be an integral part of the client’s growth within the UK drinks market.
Ses Ardabili, Supply Chain Director at Concha y Toro UK, said: “Having worked with Jigsaw at a previous company, I knew the improvements they could bring to our service. The ‘bells & whistles’ of a transport contract are useless when service is not up to scratch, and Jigsaw haven’t fallen into the trap of over-promising. Over the past few years they have made steady and sustainable advancements, while maintaining a good level of service and forming partnerships with their customers.”
