As part of a two-year programme to allow a Scottish Power electricity substation to receive power from a new offshore wind farm nearby, utilities and renewables specialist Chalcroft has completed a construction project for Babcock International Group.
Babcock called in Chalcroft's Special Projects team to help with their construction programme, tasking them with installing pylon foundations at the substation at Eccles in the Scottish Borders of Berwickshire
The £180,000 project involved installing two temporary bypass pylon foundations within a six-week timeframe, followed by the construction of foundations for two permanent pylons.
Steve England, director of Special Projects at Chalcroft, commented: "Our Special Projects team works with a wide range of renewables and utilities companies, so we were able to bring our expertise to Babcock and deliver the job to a high standard within the given timescales."
Babcock is a leading engineering support services company and operates in the high voltage power transmission and distribution markets in the UK.
David Chesney, Director of Power, at Babcock added: "We always aim to deliver excellence in engineering, and Chalcroft's reputation for quality and reliability made it the natural choice to help us complete the project. I am very pleased with the outcome."
