Burns Express, a leading provider of logistical solutions for the UK and Europe, has selected V-SOL vehicle tracking technology to enhance operational efficiency across its fleet of 24 vehicles.
Burns Express initially started working with V-SOL in 2000, with the tracking systems used for seven years until the vehicle fleet was upgraded and the company chose to operate without tracking technology.
In late 2008, Burns Express recognised the importance of tracking to improve its operational control and assessed a range of options, before again selecting V-SOL as the best in terms of system accuracy, reporting, long life and value for money.
Derek Burns, Operations Director of Burns Express, said: "Our industry is increasingly competitive, therefore it is vital that we have the ability to offer an enhanced level of customer service across our operations. Without doubt V-SOL tracking offers us the best accuracy, reporting and security, allowing us to deliver superior logistics solutions and save the business both time and money."
To date 14 out of the 24 Burns Express vehicles have been installed with the V-SOL tracking system, with the remainder scheduled to be fitted before the end of 2009. V-SOL has also provided a large display screen to Burns Express' head office, designed to help the entire traffic department monitor vehicle movement, and enabling easier direction of collections and deliveries.
The system ensures operations are more accurately managed, with easy direction of the nearest vehicles for collections; while the start and finish times of drivers can be monitored in more detail. In addition, the security provided by the vehicle tracking allows Burns Express to know when a truck has been opened or to help with crime detection.
David Isom, managing director of V-SOL, added: "Burns Express operates across a very broad geographical area, making reliable vehicle tracking key to their on-going growth and success. We are delighted to be working with them again to install our technology in their vehicles, and will work with them to ensure our systems are tailored to meet any changing requirements they have in the future."
Burns Express offers a comprehensive logistics service throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, with 26 drivers, and 10 full time staff at its Head Office managing operations. The company prides itself on its customer service, and is ISO 9001 accredited which it has held since 1996.
V-SOL has been supplying live vehicle tracking longer than any other company in the UK, with companies ranging from EDF Energy to the Ministry of Defence relying on the accuracy and control offered by the company's systems.
