Palletforce founder member BC Transport has started its 50th anniversary year as it means to go on - with an increase in volumes and new business wins.
The Bollington-based firm celebrates five decades in business this year and is looking forward to another prosperous year following months of growing volumes.
In the run up to Christmas, BC Transport saw an increase of almost 50 per cent of volumes going through the Palletforce network - and the upward trend has continued into the new year.
"The upturn in volumes that we saw at the end of 2013 was almost unheard of, it was a fantastic note to finish the year on," said Chris Goodwin, managing director.
"Volumes are continuing to rise, so our milestone 50th year is looking very positive so far."
BC Transport was set up 50 years ago by Jean and Ted Cooper - current managing director Chris Goodwin's in-laws.
Chris began working at the firm aged 16 as a 'Saturday boy' after meeting his future wife.
The company now runs a fleet of 24 trucks, with two new double deck trailers being added to the fleet in the next few months, and offers general haulage services alongside European deliveries through Palletforce, the UK and Europe's leading palletised distribution network.
"The key to our longevity is simple - service, service, service," said Chris.
"We are very customer-focussed and we work hard to support all our customers, we regularly visit them and they get to know us as people rather than just a company."
Michael Conroy, chief executive of Palletforce, said: "It is great to see BC Transport performing so strongly, especially in such a special year for the company.
"Their dedication to providing excellent service to their customers goes above and beyond and ensures that over the past 50 years their name has become synonymous with quality."
