TDG appoints new head of its Transport Business Unit

Marcos Clowes has joined TDG as Business Unit Director - Transport Business Unit.

Previously Head of Development at Norbert Dentressangle and prior to that the general manager for the UK transport operation at Christian Salvesen, Marcos began his career in logistics with United Parcel Service (UPS), where worked his way up to head of operations for Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.

With the new structure at TDG, he will have overall responsibility for TDG s transport services, advanced solutions (such as 4pl), industrial, retail, bulk & packed chemicals sectors. This new structure, he says, will create efficiencies through synergies between customer requirements and products offered.

There are many opportunities for TDG to attract new customers and indeed with existing customers where we are currently only providing certain services but could offer the added benefits of our full range of transport and warehousing services, he says. One such area is fourth party logistics, where TDG is proven to be able to work in partnership with other hauliers and with in-house transportation to derive maximum efficiencies for customers. I am passionate about the continuous improvement we deliver to our customers and I am always looking to surpass customers expectations of all the services we provide.

In 2002, Marcos volunteered to spend the year as the head of logistics for Raleigh International masterminding the management of worldwide suppliers for educational and aid expeditions across Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Both countries suffer from a severe lack of infrastructure, but we still managed to make a huge difference. It made me realise that for the expedition team and the people living in the remote areas of these countries, logistics can be literally the difference between life and death.
