TDG services a wide and diverse customer base in Western Europe many of whom currently operate in CEE. Expanding TDG s services into this region will enable TDG to both extend its relationships with current customers as well as providing services to meet the demands of regional SMEs who are looking for the type of innovative, flexible and cost effective operations that TDG provides.
Says Kevin Richardson, Strategic Development Director. This is an attractive market for TDG that reinforces and extends our business strategy. Our initial plans were to establish sales capability to supplement our international services activities and current agency relationships focussing on road and ocean transport. However our plans have evolved and through partnerships we will now have the ability to offer the full range of TDG s international and domestic warehousing and transport services. We will be offering services in Hungary from August 2009 before considering moves to establish TDG in other CEE countries .
TDG will initially be setting up offices in Budapest in the WestLog DC in Biatorbagy. Says Kevin Richardson the WestLog DC is strategically located to the west of Budapest adjacent to the main motorway hub and gives us immediate access to 680,000 sq ft of warehousing facilities, affording us the additional and immediate capability to offer storage, cross docking and consolidation services. In addition we are developing a strategic relationship through a partnering agreement with an in-country transport specialist which will enable TDG to provide a fully flexible domestic transport service .
Says Dave Barron, International Services Director.
TDG s international services have grown to such an extent that this expansion into Eastern Europe is the logical progression. Investing in these new markets will enable us to support the growth plans of our key customers, extend our asset light operations and provide services to a wider customer base.
TDG has been providing freight forwarding services and management expertise for over two decades, working strategically to maximise supply chain effectiveness and offering international movements by ocean, air or road. In addition, it also provides customers with additional support such as re-packing, labeling and customs brokerage requirements.
