Seven new Deker trailers for Pall Ex Member hauliers

Mainland, Moody, Miniclipper and PMB all choose new Deker Ecodek trailers. New Ecodek Fuel Saver trailers from Deker Trailers are revolutionising the Pall-Ex network with their aerodynamic construction designed to offer less wind resistance, making them significantly more economical on fuel. Pall-Ex network members from Northumberland to Northampton and Leighton Buzzard have chosen the trailers to help improve their operational efficiency and achieve cost savings.

Four Pall-Ex members have opted for the new fuel-saving trailers – Moody Express has bought one, whilst Mainland chose to contract hire three trailers for their growing business in Northampton. PMB Pallet Express has also bought two trailers, with a five year maintenance contract, on the recommendation of fellow Pall-Ex member Miniclipper, who have purchased one trailer and agreed an ongoing maintenance contract with Deker Trailers.

The Ecodek trailer combines the new aerodynamic design with Deker's popular flexible multi-deck construction. The curtain-siders are internally fitted with re-arrangeable decks for optimal loading without stacking. This solution is proving to be very popular with pallet networks such as Pall-Ex as it guarantees the integrity of the palletised load by eliminating the need to stack pallets on top of one another.

Mainland was Deker's first customer for the new Ecodek trailer, which also features a mesh deck so that loaders can see what freight is on each level in order to streamline the loading and unloading process and avoid damage to the goods. The first Mainland trailer was delivered in May 2006 and the company has just taken delivery of its third trailer in February 2007.

"We chose Deker Trailers because they listened to our requests and made the adjustments that we wanted to make our operation more efficient," said Mike Bacon of Mainland. "They discussed our requirements and came back with innovative solutions that have proved to be extremely efficient."

Deker Trailers supplies and supports a range of multi-deck stepframe trailers for transport operators. The company is committed to providing innovative quality products with a choice of flexible acquisition options and after-sales support services. Options are tailored to the customer's requirements and designed to deliver increased operating efficiency and financial benefits.

The sloping roof profile of Deker's new Ecodek trailer has been aerodynamically designed to give the best fuel consumption performance possible and has already been shown to achieve up to 12% savings on fuel consumption.

In addition, the benefits of multi-deck trailers are far-reaching: the increase in volume through use of the multi-deck system is complemented by the integrity offered to loaded products by reducing and eliminating the need for stacking. Higher volumes can be transported, resulting in fewer loads and fewer journeys, thereby achieving significant cost savings and reducing the environmental impact of unnecessary road journeys and "empty miles."

Managing Director Paul Sanders says: "In this age of the working time and road transport directives, with volatile fuel prices and increasing competition, our Ecodek multi-deck trailer is proving to be very popular with operators who are seeking to achieve greater efficiency and lower costs. We have worked hard to meet the individual needs of our Pall-Ex customers and are delighted that so many of our trailers are now carrying the Pall-Ex name."

Deker also has a range of financing options for both new and used sales – from HP purchase, dynamic contract hire options, ECO and OPTI hire packages and leasing packages to spot hire to help operators cover peaks in demands or maintenance downtime. Spot hire is available short or long term from one day to one year with various options on offer. Repair and maintenance contracts are also flexible to suit individual haulier's needs and are becoming increasingly popular with operators. Paul Sanders comments: "We work with our customers to ensure the most cost-effective solution for their particular operations – everyone's different and we have a lot of experience in finding what is right for each. It's a challenge we enjoy."

Deker compliments the successful truck and trailer rental and sales business Allports Truck Centre , Commercial Vehicle Rental and Truck City which is a highly successful organisation with a fast-growing customer base, located at Fradley Park in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
