Safety training company Pristine Condition helps logistics company DSV reduce manual handling incidents

Transport and logistics company DSV UK has teamed up with Pristine Condition to develop a tailor-made training program to reduce manual handling incidents.

Victoria Beale, General Manager of Support Services for DSV Road, explains: "Pristine Condition teaches in an exciting and fun way. Most manual handling courses are not that motivating. This one is inspiring, encouraging the workers to take the messages out of this and reduce the incidence of injury. By watching a scene showing a DSV truck or warehouse and worker, DSV staff can relate exactly to the situation and therefore are more likely to retain what they have seen; this is then backed up with a practical session."

Staff welfare has always been important at DSV and the company continuously reviews its health and safety procedures and systems to eliminate accidents and injuries, so far as is reasonably practicable.

The bespoke package is, specialist training focussing on the work DSV staff members carry out every day and a maintenance programme to ensure ongoing support. It will initially be aimed at the almost 1,000 drivers and warehouse workers across the UK and Ireland, but will be extended to office staff next year.

Pristine Condition was founded by former Olympic Weightlifter and World Record Holder Davy Snowdon who believes passionately in maintaining physical welfare. He has worked as the conditioning advisor at two Olympic Games and has also lectured extensively on anatomy and physiology to various organisations including the Government.
