National supply chain specialist Nightfreight helped its customers avoid
the costly delays of the 'big freeze', with a 98.86 per cent on-time
delivery record during December 2010.
The adverse weather saw Nightfreight introduce 506 more vehicles in
response to a surge in demand from B2B customers, who switched
deliveries from multiple carrier providers to Nightfreight to ensure
consignments were delivered in time for Christmas.
It managed to clear all B2B consignments from its nationwide 'shared
user' network of 53 depots, with almost 0.5 million deliveries made
before the 25th December 2010.
Managing director of Nightfreight, Peter Louden says customer experience
was our top priority during this difficult period.
He said: "This is once again another example of Nightfreight going the
extra mile to deliver the highest standards of customer satisfaction for
its customer base.
"It was a tremendous team effort from everyone at Nightfreight and a
great result for our traffic, sales and customer care teams, who all
joined forces to focus on customer delivery."
Darren Cusworth, logistics general manager of Eland Cables, says
Nightfreight helped maintain both a high delivery standard and a 'next
day' service offering to customers.
He said: "We have used Nightfreight to deliver our parcel freight for
over four years. They offer our business excellent customer service and
value for money.
"When we did experience some failures in isolated local areas where the
weather was extreme and hence made deliveries impossible, Nightfreight
worked extremely hard to help us recover our delivery performance to our
customers ensuring any delays were kept to a minimum."
Vivien Gallagher, operations manager of Spark Response, said:
"Nightfreight continued to provide an excellent service throughout the
adverse weather conditions, with minimal impact to our delivery promise
and meeting customer expectations."
Established in 1984, Nightfreight offers four main delivery channels as
either stand alone services or multi configurable options including
single parcel express and non-standard freight, two-man shared user home
delivery nationwide, a specialist warehousing, handling and installation
'white glove' service and dedicated logistics.
