New campaigns manager for FTA

The Freight Transport Association has appointed Roman Russocki to the new role of General Manager - Strategic Policy Campaigns. This newly created position will carry responsibilities regarding core strategic transport campaigning on issues such as transport and the environment, transport and society and the fundamental importance of freight transport in the operation of the economy and the national interest.

Russocki joins FTA following wide experience with trade associations - he is a former Chief Executive with the Master Locksmiths Association, Director of the Corrugated Packaging Association, and Chief Executive of the British Fluid Power Association. His most recent appointment was as Chief Executive of The Academy of Youth, a national educational charity.

Russocki, who holds an MBA and a BA(Hons) in Business Studies, will report to FTA Deputy Chief Executive James Hookham. Hookham says, 'This appointment is of vital importance to FTA and, indeed, to the transport industry. We have much to do in ensuring the public recognise and value the contribution freight transport makes to the economy and to their lifestyles. Our strategic campaigning will raise the profile of freight transport, challenge the Government to increase its policy priorities for freight, and share the success stories of the industry with press and media.'

Russocki will head up a small team dedicated to strategic policy issues.
