Environmental and engineering demands have led Wincanton to choose specialised 'surface mounted' scissor-lift vehicle loading platforms from LAWECO for double-deck trailer loading at the Stoke distribution centre of a major high street retailer.
The presence of a protective methane membrane in the floor of a warehouse situated on a former landfill site required the design and installation of innovative, surface-mounted 5000kg lifts. These required no civil engineering works, reducing costs and offering the possibility of simple future relocation yet providing a closed height of only 150mm!
Special design features included a levelling feature for one lift installed across a gradient and full compliance with Working at Height regulations.
Focused on safety (SYNOPSIS)
Wincanton has installed a special LAWECO scissor-lift vehicle loading platform as part of a package of loading bay equipment supplied at the NDC it runs near Tamworth for a major DIY chain.
The warehousing of flammable goods - paints, aerosols, solvents and gases – has to comply with DSEAR 2002 and the risk from 'flammable gases, mists or vapours' requires certification to ATEX Zone 2 standard.
All of these were met and exceeded as were Working at Height and all other safety regulations.
