A 15 acre site alongside the M5 in Gloucestershire is to be developed into one of the key distribution hubs for the country.
Graftongate Developments intends to create workplaces and industrial distribution units at Javelin Park, alongside junction 12 of the M5, having sold a parcel of land alongside the site to Gloucestershire County Council.
The County Council has secured 12 acres of land as part of its Waste Local Plan. No decisions on the use of the county council land will be made until 2011, although the intention is for a "state of the art" Energy from Waste facility.
Graftongate, along with partners Korine Property Partners intend to use the land sale as the catalyst for creating employment on the rest of the site, which they believe is one of the most important in the country.
Phil Silk, director of Graftongate, said: "Javelin Park is within one hour's drive of Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff and is just 15 minutes from the M4/M5 interchange so has the potential to be a key distribution hub for the region.
"There is a large available workforce nearby and yet it has direct access on to the motorway and so has advantages over so many urban sites. Selling part of the land to Gloucestershire county council means we can unlock the potential of the rest of the site.
"We have planning permission for buildings from 44,300 square feet (4116 sqm) up to 486.000 square feet (45,150 square metres) of warehouse and distribution space and we are now interested in talking to potential occupiers so that the space can be designed to their specifications."
Property agents Colliers CRE have been appointed to launch a Europe-wide search for potential occupiers.

All modern logistics operators want a base or depot with direct access to the motorway network and that is what we have at Javelin Park.
