The continuation of a family tradition.
Cobalt Conveyors is a new Merseyside based company, whose recent business launch is founded on a mission is to be a successful supplier and installer of all types of conveyor systems.
Although a brand new business, the family name behind the launch of this conveyors operation is likely to be very familiar to those in materials handling. Simon Turner is the new Managing Director of Cobalt Conveyors, but his father Philip Turner, was the driving force behind Peer Conveyor for over a decade and more recently is a Senior Partner in the Northern based Conveyors UK Ltd.
As a new start up business, Cobalt Conveyors is working very hard to build its infrastructure and the systems to handle a significant amount of business. The management team has worked aggressively to establish a clear business strategy which has identified desirable, quality product and service provision together with clear target markets, routes to market and marketing plans.
Simon Turner, Managing Director is sanguine about his recent career move:
"Although I shied away from following in my father's footsteps for many years and indeed chose to work in other industries such as linear actuators and food packaging, I suppose there is a sense of inevitability that I would find myself returning to materials handling!
Having been employed in the conveyor industry for over 15 years and as a qualified engineer, I decided early this year to use my extensive knowledge, skills and experience to start my own company. We are fortunate in the fact that Cobalt Conveyors has already secured an agency agreement with a leading roller conveyors manufacturer and will be working as its North West sales representative. However, we do also plan to work with other types of manufacturers to deliver other varieties of kit. Plastic and stainless steel chain slat conveyors, a wide range of belt and flexible conveyors. So I am well prepared to take on the competition – including my Dad!"
The company will design, supply and built conveyor systems that can either be standard kit or bespoke turnkey systems. To complement this, Simon is keen to develop strong working relationships with his customers and plans to exploit this area further by continuing to offer customers value-added improvements and vertically-integrate the business to support these improvements.
Cobalt Conveyors has appointed a management team with direct knowledge of the industry, extensive research experience, and unique administrative skills. The company's management team consists of people with broad backgrounds in manufacturing, materials handling, marketing and finance.
