The UK’s largest logistics event will feature a courtroom drama with a difference this September, as organisers seek to highlight the life-changing consequences of health and safety breaches in the workplace.
A mock trial will take centre stage at the IMHX Conference on 10 September, staged by the UK Material Handling Association (UKMHA) in partnership with leading industry figures. The session aims to bring home the risks associated with material handling equipment in the most memorable way yet attempted at the event.
The trial will be led by Marta Tomlinson, Legal Director at Kennedys Law LLP, alongside Clare Bottle of UKWA and Stuart Taylor from Mentor Training. Organisers hope the scenario will resonate strongly with anyone working with, or around, forklifts and warehouse trucks.
Running from 9–11 September at the NEC Birmingham, IMHX will also host a series of expert-led presentations alongside the courtroom session.
Jeremy Leonard, Managing Director of Global Industry Services at Oxford Economics, will assess UK industrial truck demand in a challenging economic climate.
Laura Nelson, CEO of RTITB, will present on Shaping a Safety-Driven Workforce.
Powerfleet will deliver a session entitled The Hidden Warehouse Risk That Will Cost You Your Job, featuring Ingmar Schoemacher and Martijn Graat, founder of Logistics Matter and host of the Does Logistics Matter? podcast.
These talks add to a packed agenda focused on sustainability strategies, smart technologies and operational excellence. Delegates will hear how AI-driven insights and data solutions are being used to cut costs and streamline warehouse operations, while recurring themes of safety, productivity and employee well-being will also be explored.
Rob Fisher, Chief Executive Officer at the UKMHA, said: “The risks associated with health and safety breaches are genuinely life-changing to both the injured party and the owners of the business involved. The challenge for us is how we can bring these pitfalls to life in the most memorable manner, so the message gets through.
“We’re confident that we’ll make a big impression through our mock trial, which is another example of us raising the bar and adding real substance to our offering at the exhibition. It is the first time that we have ever tried to execute a presentation in such a creative way and we think that it will leave a lasting impression with everyone who witnesses it.”
Visitor registration for IMHX 2025 is now open, with free entry available to professionals across warehousing, distribution, supply chain, e-commerce, retail and manufacturing.
