Cylindrical sustainability

ELGA Process Water makes deionisation cylinders more sustainable

More and more industries are finding the benefits of using deionised water. Glass washing, bottle rinsing, car washes and surface treatment are just a few of applications in which a final deionised water rinse gives improved product quality. Most of these applications depend on service exchange cylinders using mixed bed ion exchange resins to purify the water. When the resins are exhausted the service provider delivers a replacement cylinder and returns the exhausted one to their regeneration station for reprocessing.

Most deionisation cylinders use strong anion exchange resins which produce high purity water with conductivity less than 0.2µS/cm – a hundred times purer than is needed for most applications. ELGA Process Water has introduced a range of weak anion cylinders that produce water of about 20µS/cm conductivity – good enough for all but the most critical applications. The weak resin cylinders have a capacity around 80% higher than conventional cylinders and are available in sizes to suit all users with flow rates from 140 l/h of deionised water up to the 2,835 l/h. With capacities up to 7000l when it's treating a typical 400mg/l TDS mains water.

The increased capacity of ELGA Process Water's weak anion resin cylinders means greatly reduced operating costs. Not only that, weak anion resins are very efficient in regeneration, so there is less regenerant chemical consumption, and fewer cylinder deliveries leaves a smaller carbon footprint.
