Culina Logistics has secured a major supply chain contract with leading own-label chilled desserts producer, Uniq plc.
From the start of April 2007, Culina will store and distribute a wide range of products from its Market Drayton distribution centre to major supermarket retailers.
Rien Brakel, managing director of Culina Logistics, said: "This is a major win for Culina and further strengthens our position in the market as the premium shared-user chilled logistics services provider."
Culina will manage storage, stock control and the collection of inbound stock from Uniq production facilities at Minsterley in Shropshire and Paignton in Devon.
Orders are received by EDI (electronic data interchange) and picked using hand held RDT (radio data transfer) scanners.
In excess of 200 different SKUs will be delivered by Culina to around 450 drop points on behalf of Uniq, with the company handling over 15 million cases of product per annum.
Uniq has a major production facility at Minsterley that produces a wide range of retailer brand desserts, yogurts and fromage frais for the major supermarket multiples. The company is also a major trifle
supplier.
Riviera Desserts is located in Paignton and produce private label products in the chocolate, fruit and premium desserts categories. It also produces the market leading Cadbury chilled desserts range, including chocolate mousse, chocolate trifle, twin pots, and puddings.
