Millions of people every year tuck into delicious products from foodservice supplier Brakes.
And as the appetite for its products grows every year, Brakes will create up to 50 new jobs at its Grantham depot by investing in a new 5,200m² warehouse as part of a major site expansion.
Chalcroft Construction has been appointed to build the new warehouse over the course of 32 weeks. The refurbishment and new build specialists has been tasked with designing and building an ambient store, extending from the existing building, eight new loading docks, level access doors and a new mezzanine area.
The first phase will also include a new vehicle entrance road, new car park and the relocation of an existing chiller plant.
Dean Cook, contracts manager at Chalcroft, commented: "It's great to be involved in a project that will assist Brakes to keep at the top of its sector and it's good to see a company investing in its future.
"The project itself will see the ambient store constructed as an extension to the existing building, ensuring of course that the work does not affect the day-to-day operations.
"We have also worked hard to ensure all relevant health and safety measures are followed and that the high standards demanded by Brakes will be met throughout the project."
The site currently employs 500 staff and the majority of the 50 new jobs will be in the new warehouse with some additional positions being created for delivery drivers.
Brakes marketing director, James Armitage said: "This is a major expansion designed to create a single multi-temperature facility that will enhance our current site and represents a significant investment both in terms of jobs and infrastructure.
"Chalcroft has been able to use its experience and expertise in our sector to design a facility that meets our requirements."
