From paperclips to computer accessories, companies will always require a constant supply of office equipment to keep their operations running efficiently. Acco UK, part of Acco World, is the world leader in branded office products, and has turned to Caljan Rite-Hite to supply a special telescopic boom conveyor for its distribution centre in the West Midlands.
The centre, in Halesowen, is Acco UK’s main warehouse, where office products are stored and distributed to the UK domestic market. It also serves the company’s European distribution points.
Containers arrive from Acco UK’s Eastern suppliers, which are filled with palletised goods. Caljan Rite-Hite has supplied the conveyor, which has a platform and is known as the Man Rider, to provide the centre with a means of safely and efficiently unloading these containers. Easy to operate due to its ergonomic design, the machine decreases loading and unloading time by up to 50%.
“Caljan Rite-Hite put forward a proposal for a complete solution to our handling issues”, commented Kevin Carr, Distribution Director at Acco UK. He continued, “the new Man Rider machine has provided us with a much safer operation for our goods inward team. It has removed the risk of handling related injuries and has provided annual savings equating to a pay back of less than one year. We are very pleased with Caljan Rite-Hite and we are looking at the possibility of implementing similar technologies into some of our European facilities.”
