BULKEX 2015 speaker programme is announced

The speaker programme for the highlight of the materials handling industry year, BULKEX 2015, has been unveiled.

High profile speakers such as Finnbarr Dowling, Project Director at Siemens will attend the event, which is being organised by the Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) and will take place at the Harrogate International Conference Centre this October (Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22).

Siemens Project Director Finnbarr Dowling will reveal details about its £160 million wind energy investments in Green Port, Hull.

Meanwhile, SIRIUS Minerals in York will discuss its new mine development for 13million tonnes/year export of potash, which at full production will bring an annual contribution of over £1 billion to the UK.

Other speakers include representatives from the Port of Rotterdam, which ships significant bio mass and coal for UK carbon reductions and power generation and Wolf Minerals which will unveil details of its £100 million investment in the Hemerdon Tungsten Mine located three kilometres outside Dartmoor National Park, which will be largest in Europe.

Other key speakers are highlighted below.

Registration to attend BULKEX 2015 is free. It will be the first major exhibition and conference of its kind for colleagues across the bulk and materials handling industry.

This year’s seminar programme will cover areas including ports, power, mining, steel and cement and speakers will include some of the industry’s most recognisable and leading figures.

Mike Redmond, President of the Materials Handling Engineers Association believes this autumn’s national exhibition and seminar programme will be an unmissable event for colleagues across the industry. Those wishing to attend should sign up now for a free ticket and attend “what promises to be a high profile and most informative event”.

Mike Redmond explained: “There has been much discussion about developing the Northern Power House – a theme that has caught much media and political attention. This conference provides a very real platform and some concrete examples of that ambition.”

The MHEA is a trade association, representing the bulk materials handling and associated industries. Member companies range from large corporate global organisations to small to medium sized enterprises - all supporting the industry.

More than 50 exhibitors will showcase their products and services. Tickets to the event are free and can be reserved by visiting the website at www.mhea.co.uk or by using the new ‘Guidebook’ app, which can be downloaded from app stores.

BULKEX 2015 is sponsored this year by Siemens Automation and Drives Group, ATEX Explosion Hazards Ltd and Flexco.

Last year’s MHEA conference was opened by the former Minister for Energy and Climate change Chris Huhne, who spoke of the effects of alternative energy and bio mass imports.
