The annual industry event 'Mastering Mobility in the Supply Chain' saw a mix of Peak-Ryzex partners and customers packed into motorsport's historic Prodrive headquarters in Banbury, Oxfordshire last week. Hailed as a big success, supply chain professionals attended for a day of learning, discussion about mobile strategies, adapting trends and new mobile technology evaluation.
Hosted by Peak-Ryzex, the event was sponsored by Motorola Solutions, Zebra Technologies and Wavelink, which allowed attendees to interact with key hardware suppliers in the market, and understand how they can help their planned mobility projects.
The event began with a presentation from Daniel Dombach, Director EMEA Industry Solutions Group at Motorola Solutions, who discussed the end-to-end supply chain challenges from manufacturing through to the retail store and how the right technologies are critical. Interestingly, Daniel touched on the rising trend of our connected, mobile population and how companies can take advantage of these trends to deliver an omni-channel experience.
Customer Steven Moore, SAP Consultant at frozen food manufacturer Apetito, hosted a mobile strategy session and an interactive Q&A session to discuss their latest project for creating further transparency and traceability in their food supply chain.
Informal breakout sessions followed lunch, which included discussions and demonstrations of Zebra Technologies' Link-OS system, the Movilizer mobile application platform and Motorola's WLAN solutions. John Vaccaro, Owner of Mobilis Consulting, wrapped up the day's proceedings with an overview of a typical mobile project lifecycle including the deployment of SpeakEasy, Wavelink's voice picking solution, for their client - Sainsbury's.
Attendees also had the opportunity to tour the Prodrive site, which is renowned for its motorsport heritage, and specifically its production of Aston Martin Racing and Mini WRC racing vehicles.
"Mastering Mobility gives attendees a great opportunity to network with like-minded individuals across the supply chain," says Damian Penney, Managing Director of Peak-Ryzex Europe. "Our event speakers and track sessions covered various mobility topics, but a central tenet of the day focused on how to adapt to changing technology trends and using technology to improve supply chain visibility. The strong partner presence at the event helped further demonstrate solutions to these upcoming challenges, and effectively complemented Peak-Ryzex solution offerings."
