Meachers Global Logistics have invested £1.25 million in 16 new, high specification Mercedes Actros trucks in a continued effort to be at the forefront of the transport & distribution in the UK.
The trucks will operate out of both the firm's headquarters in Nursling, Southampton and its East Midlands depot in Derby. The units will gradually be rolled out over the next couple of months leading up to Christmas.
Chosen for their economical and environmental performance, the Mercedes Actros trucks boast impressive fuel economy, with low maintenance and minimal running costs. The vehicles were also chosen for their notorious reliability.
The Mercedes PowerShift automated transmission also improves safety, by allowing drivers to concentrate on the road ahead rather than worrying about what gear they're in. In addition, the large, flat-floored MegaSpace cab provides a quiet and comfortable working environment for the drivers.
Managing Director of Meachers Global Logistics, Stuart Terris, said: "These new vehicles represent a significant investment in our transport and distribution division, which continues to go from strength to strength. It demonstrates our commitment to providing a first class service for our customers.
"We have ambitious plans for the future of our business and our long-term strategy reflects the need to continually evolve in order to meet the changing needs of the workplace. This requires a continued investment in our equipment, our facilities and our people."
As part of its Complete Transport and Distribution Service, Meachers provides full load distribution and a next-day delivery service for any size consignment around the UK.
