West Midlands Mercedes-Benz dealer Midlands Truck & Van boosts its management team by making two key appointments

David Stewart is the company's first After Sales Director, while Truck Sales Manager Simon Russell returns to a 'patch' on which he previously spent 19 years selling Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles.

With dealerships in Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton, Midlands Truck & Van sells and supports the award-winning range of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, as well as popular Fuso Canter light trucks. It was formed on 1 April last year, following the acquisition of the former franchisee by privately-owned Ballyvesey Holdings Ltd.

Scotsman David brings an impressive industry track record to his new role. He rose during a 30-year career with a Swedish truck manufacturer to the position of After Market Director with responsibility for the North and Scotland.

"I was seeking a new challenge," he said, "and am excited by the prospect of working with Mercedes-Benz, a brand whose products and services are of the highest quality, and which in my previous life always provided the stiffest of competition.

"Midlands Truck & Van, meanwhile, is a fantastic company that's really going places, and we clearly have some very good people working in parts and services across our three dealership locations."

He continued: "The West Midlands is a very busy region with a huge number of companies that run trucks and vans. I'm now looking forward to growing our after sales business by ensuring that we always deliver the very highest level of customer satisfaction, as befits the Mercedes-Benz brand."

David is a motorsport enthusiast who enjoys taking part in off-road competitions in his own 4x4. He and his wife plan to move down to the West Midlands within the next few months, from their current home in Northumberland.

Simon, by contrast, has no need to relocate. Coventry born and bred, he still lives in the Copsewood area of the city with his wife and two daughters, aged 12 and nine. He is an ardent Coventry City fan and season ticket holder.

Armed with an HND in Engineering, Simon began his career in 1988 as a sales trainee with the previous Mercedes-Benz franchisee for the West Midlands. He then worked in van and truck sales roles until 2007, when he left to become a Key Account Manager for Mercedes-Benz UK, serving some of Britain's biggest truck fleet operators.

Simon's return means he is once again working for Jon Divers, who previously ran the manufacturer's fleet truck sales team but last year took on the top job of Dealer Principal at Midlands Truck & Van.

"To ensure continuity of service I'll still be looking after some of my West Midlands-based fleet customers, such as TNT and CEVA Logistics," said Simon. "But I'm also looking forward to knocking the doors of some of the retail customers I used to deal with, as well as introducing many new operators to the benefits of Mercedes-Benz trucks."

He added: "This new job represents a massive opportunity for me. I've only come back to work in the West Midlands because I believe so strongly in the company's new owners and management team."

Midlands Truck & Van is one of Britain's busiest commercial vehicle dealers, and numbers some of the biggest names on Britain's roads among its customers. As well as supplying the finest range of trucks and vans on the market, its sales teams can arrange highly flexible and competitively priced vehicle finance packages.

Midlands Truck & Van also provides a comprehensive after sales service. Customers, many of whom take out Mercedes-Benz repair and maintenance contracts, benefit from the peace of mind that comes from knowing their vehicles are being cared for by factory-trained technicians who fit only genuine, manufacturer-approved parts to ensure optimum reliability and performance. The dealer also operates a fleet of parts delivery vans and provides Mercedes-Benz Service 24h roadside rescue and recovery back-up, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
