The Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute, (SEI) based in Pittsburgh, USA, has awarded recognition in September 2009 that Avery Weigh-Tronix has achieved Level 3 compliance with the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Model v1.2.
Gaining Level 3 Certification places the software development process within Avery Weigh-Tronix at the same level of CMMI compliance as parts of organizations such as Accenture, Boeing, CSC, Fujitsu, HP, Hitachi, IBM, NCR and SAP.
Simon Hallam, Global Product Manager for Software Solutions at Avery Weigh-Tronix comments "We are delighted that the standard of our software development process has been recognized by this prestigious award. Our customers around the globe can have even greater confidence that their decision to utilize our weighing software solutions was the right one, and that they have implemented software developed by an organization whose systems are amongst the best in the world."
The SEI is a US government-funded part of Carnegie Mellon University. It works closely with defense and government organizations, industry, and academia to continually improve software-intensive systems, helping organizations to improve their software engineering capabilities.
