New research from ProGlove reveals that nearly two-thirds of warehouses in the UK and US are losing the equivalent of 52 full workdays each year due to small but frequently overlooked inefficiencies.
As consumer expectations soar—driven by events like Amazon Prime Day, which has set new benchmarks for instant gratification through record sales and next-day deliveries—warehouses face mounting pressure to optimise every second of their operations.
ProGlove, a provider of integrated hardware and software solutions, surveyed 200 warehouse leaders across both countries.
The findings highlight significant challenges in efficiency and system integration:
• 88% of respondents do not actively track micro-inefficiencies within their operations
• 46% acknowledge that these small delays are significantly harming overall performance
• 60% admit that their warehouse systems remain only partially integrated
Despite substantial investments in digital tools such as Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and smart barcode scanners, many warehouses continue to operate with fragmented systems that fail to communicate effectively with one another.
These gaps in integration and the lack of focus on minor inefficiencies could be costing warehouses valuable time and productivity, at a moment when speed and accuracy are more critical than ever.
