Unipart achieves three distinctions in top International Safety Awards

Three Unipart businesses – Unipart Logistics, UTL and Unipart Dorman - have all achieved distinctions in this year’s British Safety Council’s International Safety Awards.

The International Safety Awards celebrate organisations from around the world that have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the 2014 calendar year. This year marks the 57th year of the International Safety Awards, and for the last three years Unipart has received distinction, demonstrating our vision that no one should be injured or made ill at work.

The International Safety Awards set out to shine a light on those businesses who are taking sensible and effective steps to protect employees from the risk of work-related injury and ill health, celebrating their efforts and encouraging other employers everywhere to give workers’ health and safety the priority it rightly deserves.

Winners are drawn from a broad range of sectors and a wide range of countries, dealing with different challenges, risks and cultures. 514 companies successfully achieved the International Safety Award standard this year but only 29 met the highest standard and were awarded a distinction.

Neal Stone, acting Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated the Unipart businesses – Unipart Logistics, UTL and Unipart Dorman - on their success. “On behalf of the Trustees and staff of the British Safety Council we warmly congratulate these three Unipart businesses and their employees on gaining an International Safety Award with distinction for 2015. All of those working at Unipart Logistics, UTL and Unipart Dorman have made this award possible, which recognises their commitment to preventing injury and ill health in the workplace.

“Winning organisations recognise that proportionate and sensible management of occupational health and safety risks brings real benefits to the organisation, its people and society.

“The International Safety Awards rightly reflect the importance of aiming for good standards of health and safety at work. Unipart Logistics, UTL and Unipart Dorman should rightly be proud of their achievements. Our warmest congratulations.”

Commenting on the awards Frank Burns, Managing Director, Unipart Logistics said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our employees at these outstanding sites for ensuring that health and safety continues to take the highest priority. This fantastic achievement marks them out as amongst the best for our approach to health and safety, and are awards of which we should be very proud.

“I wish them all the best at the British Safety Council’s International Safety Awards Ceremony where the winner of the sector awards will be announced on 24th April 2015 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, where we hope they’ll mirror the success of Unipart Logistics which last year went on to win a highly prestigious sector award on the night.”
