Power and precision take centre stage as Toyota unveils its latest generation of heavy-duty electric forklifts.

Toyota Material Handling Europe has launched the new Traigo80 range, building on the success of its Traigo48 models and targeting demanding indoor and outdoor applications with a focus on strength, efficiency and control.

The updated line-up includes five models powered by an 80V battery, offering lifting capacities from 3.5 to 5.0 tonnes. Available in both compact and standard chassis, the trucks are designed to handle a broader range of heavy-duty tasks.

Each model features either a 500mm or 600mm load centre, a key factor in maintaining stability and safe lifting performance. The forklifts also adopt the latest Traigo design, which has already received multiple industry awards.

Aimed at intensive operations such as beverage production, the Traigo80 range is built to handle multiple pallets at once while maintaining reliability in high-demand environments.

Operators can choose from a range of energy solutions, including lithium-ion, lead-acid and fuel cell, allowing the trucks to suit both occasional use and continuous, high-frequency operations.

Toyota says the new models deliver improved energy efficiency, with the standard 80V configuration offering reduced consumption for day-to-day use.

For more demanding conditions, a High-Performance option with a 90V battery provides additional torque, faster travel speeds of up to 20km/h and up to a 30% increase in lifting speed. The upgraded system also offers improved protection against dust and water ingress, alongside energy savings of up to 12% compared with previous models.

Jose Maria Gener, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Toyota Material Handling Europe, said the new range reflects a shift in industry expectations.

“In material handling, true performance lies in the balance between raw strength and refined control. Our new electric forklift Traigo80 delivers both,” he said.

He added that “precision is built into every aspect”, with the trucks designed to respond to changing customer needs and future market demands.

The Traigo80 has been developed with operator comfort in mind, featuring a full-floating driver compartment to reduce noise and vibration, alongside improved legroom and all-round visibility.

Additional features include smooth regenerative braking and acceleration, as well as simplified maintenance through easier service access at the rear of the vehicle.

Drivers can also customise the forklift with optional features such as a colour touchscreen display, adjustable armrests with multiple control lever options and a glass roof for improved visibility.

Safety remains a central focus, with Toyota’s System of Active Stability (SAS) included as standard, alongside a door sensor and optional technologies such as the SEnS+ anti-collision system, obstacle detection, rear camera and smart lighting.

The company said the new range is engineered to deliver consistent performance across a variety of working environments, combining durability with precise handling for heavy lifting tasks.
