Space solutions specialist, Spaciotempo's ability to provide extra capacity and flexibility, on time and on budget, has seen it supply a fourth temporary unit to manufacturer Swift Group.
Established in 1965, Swift has become the market leading manufacturer of touring caravans and coachbuilt motorhomes under the brands Abbey, Ace, Sprite Sterling and Swift, and is now setting new standards with a range of modern family holiday homes.
Based in Cottingham East Yorkshire, the Swift manufacturing plant now includes 1,575 sq m of temporary space supplied exclusively by Spaciotempo. This incorporates a uniquely designed 675 sq m valeting area with all-round access, providing adequate space for servicing up to 20 caravans and offering plenty of natural light.
As a result of the fast and efficient tailor-made solution, lengthy planning procedures and construction delays often associated with permanent buildings were avoided. Subsequently Swift ordered a further two 10m x 20m temporary buildings for use as a furniture storage facility and workshop respectively.
More recently a 5m x 10m unit with three wall panels has been supplied to extend a permanent building, providing the capacity to allow Swift to trial a new procedure for sorting and despatching parts without causing any disruption to the existing operation.
With steel reinforced UPVC cavity walling and a double skinned air filled roofing system to assist climate control, the aluminium framed structure was installed and connected to the existing building within five days.
The bespoke solution was designed to the exact measurements of the existing building and sealed, making it a safe and watertight environment in which to work. An advanced door system allows workers rapid access to the building via automatic canvas shutters.
Swift Group's project engineer, Jim Bolton, comments: "With most of our operation based on one site, continually expanding over the years could potentially have posed many problems. Choosing to install provisional structures rather than invest heavily in new premises has presented us with numerous opportunities to test new developments with added flexibility.
"As well as proving to be a cost effective measure, the robust units are ideal for our heavy-duty manufacturing operation."
