Savoye to install automated storage and retrieval system for Next warehouse

High street and home shopping retailer Next has appointed logistics integrator Savoye to install an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) for storing furniture products in an existing 80,000 sq m warehouse in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The new ASRS facility is being built to handle demand for the UK retailer's large furniture items.

Warehouse integrator Savoye has developed an innovative solution for Next, using a highly flexible crane system in conjunction with conveyors and high bay storage. The warehouse control system and integration of the project will be overseen by Savoye, which is working closely with key project partners Efacec and Nedcon, who are supplying cranes, conveyors and racking for the site respectively. The new facility is scheduled to open in Autumn 2011.
