RS Components deploys new technology from ToolsGroup to manage Demand Foreing and key Safety Stock settings more efficiently

ToolsGroup, a global provider of demand-driven inventory optimization solutions, announced today that RS Components will be implementing its flagship solution, Service Optimizer 99+ (SO 99+), to improve its Demand Sensing and Foreing processes, as well as Safety Stock settings, to ensure high levels of availability whilst improving working capital efficiencies.

RS Components is a world-leading distributor of over 450,000 electronic, electromechanical and industrial components from 2,500 suppliers. RS supports more than 1.6M customers world-wide, supplying components to both research and development and maintenance engineers in more than 80 countries.

Earlier this year we set out to make a step function improvement in our global forcasting and planning capability. The principal driver for this was our strategic intent to dramatically extend our global product range. We identified the ToolsGroup S099+ solution as an excellent fit for our business and we are very excited about reaping the benefits of an early implementation" stated Simon Phillips, Supply Chain Development Manager at RS.

"The RS Components product portfolio is a great example of long tail inventory where we see an enormous variety of stock keeping units (SKUs) and slow moving items with lumpy, unpredictable demand patterns," said Martin Woodward, MD of Tools UK. "ToolsGroup's ability to master a wide range of demand and inventory behaviours across multi echelon supply chains will enable RS Components to continue to provide service level excellence to its huge and varied customer base."
